I’m Karen, a professionally trained celebrant, and I will work with you to create a unique service crafted just for you.
I am not bound by religious faith so I help you create an occasion that is totally bespoke, enabling you and those you care about to celebrate all aspects of life, love and loss. Together we will prepare a service that can be religious or secular, or I can help you to use your voice to say the words you want to be included, be it for your wedding blessing, vow renewal, funeral or another occasion.
I will meet with you and we will work together to produce the experience you want, the occasion is yours and I will be there to personally help and guide you all the way.
Weddings
I was considered an ‘older bride’ when I finally married. I didn’t know about celebrants at the time, but was extremely lucky; that Susan, the local vicar, was prepared to be a little lenient.
In terms of church weddings, mine was somewhat unconventional; most of my friends already had children and I wanted them all to be part of the ceremony so I had 14 bridesmaids and 5-page boys. It was a party all the way down and back up the aisle – just what I wanted. That’s what I do for my couples; help them to create a day they remember with joy, just as I do.
I meet with my couples and together we work out exactly what you both want, be it a secular wedding where I help you write your own vows, one with religious elements, or a blend of both. Together we compose a plan; mini-rituals, readings, music, even dance can be included.
Funerals
Care and compassion.
Funerals bring back memories, moments in time; they are a way of celebrating the life of a loved one. As a celebrant, I am honoured to be able to assist with this and we will work together, to create a service that reminds everyone of the life lived and the love, laughter and joy that was part of that life.
I create services for funerals held at crematoriums, natural and woodland burial grounds, and church grounds or I can preside over ash interment or scattering. I will help you select music, write the eulogy, prepare the readings, whatever you need I will be there to help you achieve it.
Other Ceremonies
Life often takes unexpected turns, as the last few years have shown. Amongst these, there are moments that we wish to celebrate, mark as important and let others know how we feel.
You may wish to renew your vows, join two families together, welcome an adopted child, name a child, or announce your gender.
There are so many ways a celebrant can help you make these moments memorable and, most importantly, tailor them to you and your wishes, hopes and desires. I can bring a variety of elements to your ceremony from poetry and music to religious readings, hymns, and prayers should you wish. The choice of location is also yours; a hotel, stately home, field, beach or boat. It’s your celebration and I want to help you make it the most memorable event possible.
