Life often takes unexpected turns, as the last few years have shown. Amongst these, there are moments that we wish to celebrate, mark as important and let others know how we feel.
You may wish to renew your vows, join two families together, welcome an adopted child, name a child, or announce your gender.
There are so many ways a celebrant can help you make these moments memorable and, most importantly, tailor them to you and your wishes, hopes and desires. I can bring a variety of elements to your ceremony from poetry and music to religious readings, hymns, and prayers should you wish. The choice of location is also yours; a hotel, stately home, field, beach or boat. It’s your celebration and I want to help you make it the most memorable event possible.

Mini Rituals
There are some wonderfully symbolic mini-rituals that can be incorporated into these events including:

Hand Fastening or Tying the Knot
This involves the tying of plaited ribbons or cords around the joined hands of the couple. A blessing is given or vows are exchanged and then by pulling each end of the ribbon, the couple finish by ‘tying the knot’.

Sand Blending
This is a perfect ceremony when joining two ready-made families together as it can involve children from both sides of the family and help them see themselves as one new unit.
In this ceremony, coloured sand is used and each person takes a turn to pour a small layer of sand into a chosen glass vessel; as each member of the new family has different coloured sand, the layers build. This is accompanied by personal vows, words that help to join and blend the family like the sand, never to be separated.

Ring Warming
This is a wonderful ritual but does need a little thought beforehand. The concept is for the wedding rings or bands to be passed through the wedding guests allowing each person to hold them and bestow their own blessing for the couple and their future. At ceremonies, I suggest this is only undertaken by the parents or close friends; however if you do wish for more people to participate in this, it is often best to loop the rings onto a ribbon which is then passed from hand to hand.
Other rituals include the Loving Cup, Unity Candles and Wishing Stones, however, should you want to include a specific ritual of your own into your ceremony, I will be delighted to work with you on this.
